About the workshop

The Auckland Bioengineering Institute will host a workshop on new advances in gastrointestinal motility in Auckland between 31 October and 2 November 2011.

Recent advances in the methods for understanding, assessing and manipulating gastrointestinal motility will be discussed.

We anticipate that gastroenterologists, surgeons, physicists and engineers will have open discussions on various areas of gastrointestinal motility, including: cellular recordings, tissue imaging, slow wave mapping, motility mapping, gastric stimulation.

Venue and accommodation

The workshop will be held at The University of Auckland, located on the edge of Auckland's central business district. The workshop will be held in spring, with temperatures ranging between 12-20C (54-68F). Rain showers are likely.

Early booking of accommodation is strongly recommended as the final of the Rugby World Cup will be held in Auckland on Sunday, 23 October and many tourists are staying afterwards.

There are a number of hotels located within a 15 minutes walk of the Auckland Bioengineering Institute. The University of Auckland provides preferential rates for some hotels including The Langham and The Quadrant (please see the map below, or view the workshop venue in a larger map).
