Annalisa Swan

Alumna profile

BE(Hons), PhD

Annalisa Swan received a BE(Hons) in Engineering Science from The University of Auckland. She joined the Auckland Bioengineering Institute in 2006 and graduated with a PhD in 2011.

Annalisa was a member of the pulmonary research group, which develops computational models of different pulmonary functions using anatomically-based geometries derived from CT scans.

Her doctoral research focused on incorporating different aspects of lung function - pulmonary blood flow, air flow, and lung tissue deformation - with the exchange of oxygen between the blood and air in the lungs to help understand how effectively different regions of the lung perform gas exchange.

Annalisa's doctoral research project was supervised by Associate Professor Merryn Tawhai.
