Abhishek graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, Karnataka (India) and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Engineering from The University of Auckland. He is now pursuing his Master of Engineering degree in Bioengineering at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute with support from the ABI and his supervisor Dr Tim Angeli.

Contractions in the gastrointestinal (GI) system are initiated and controlled by rhythmic, propagating electrical events, termed ‘slow waves’ which aid the mechanism of gastric motility. A range of high-resolution mapping electrode arrays have been manufactured and tested for recording gastric slow waves. His ME project aims to determine the effects of various electrode bio-design parameters on signal quality of bioelectrical recordings, with an overall goal to optimize the design parameters for serosal and mucosal recordings.
