Soft hydraulic transducer arrays for controlled support and positioning of applied loads
We are embarking on a new research project to investigate the capabilities and application potential of sensing and actuating soft transducer arrays. In particular, to extend initial work on our existing soft transducer design to create a dynamic bed that can react to pressure points, change loading, and shift patients. Such technology has clinical and commercial potential as the majority of accidental injuries and deaths in hospitals are associated with (i) bedsores, (ii) people falling while trying to get in and out of bed, and (iii) injuries associated with moving patients.
