Michael Seow will graduate in May 2017 with a BE(Hons) in Biomedical Engineering. He is currently working towards a Master of Engineering in Bioengineering at the ABI.


Soft pneumatic transducer with force sensing and integrated 6-axis position/rotation sensing

We are embarking on a new research project to investigate the capabilities and application potential of sensing and actuating soft transducer arrays. In particular, to extend initial work on our existing soft transducer design to create a dynamic bed that can react to pressure points, change loading, and shift patients. Such technology has great clinical and commercial potential. The majority of accidental injuries and deaths in hospitals are associated with (i) bed sores, (ii) people falling while trying to get in and out of bed, and (iii) injuries associated with moving patients.
