PostDoctoral Fellow in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Analysis

A post is available for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in analysis of brain MRI scans of children, based at the Liggins Institute at the University of Auckland.

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, post-doctoral research fellow to work with our group undertaking studies of 9-year-old children born at risk of low blood glucose concentrations. The objective of the CHYLD Study is to determine the relationship between blood glucose concentrations in babies, and their later neurocognitive function, academic achievement and brain structure.

This 0.5 FTE two year post will provide MRI and image analysis experience in the context of a busy multidisciplinary clinical studies group. The fellow will work closely with clinicians, vision scientists and statisticians in the Liggins Institute, Auckland and collaborate with researchers at the University of Toronto and University of Waterloo, Canada.

Applicants must have completed a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field eg psychology, neurology, biomedical engineering, medical physics or radiology. Experience in structural analysis of MRI data would be an advantage.

Research Associate in Biomedical Engineering

Heart failure and coronary heart disease are major clinical conditions affecting an estimated 2.7M people in the UK alone. Both of these conditions result in a fundamental reduction in the ability of heart muscle to effectively pump and deliver blood to the body. While this deficiency in the heart is easily detected using medical imaging, dissecting the causes of reduced heart performance in terms of its implications for muscle health remain an open challenge for the treatment of heart failure and evaluation of patient treatment.

This post seeks to employ two RAs who will address these key challenges through image analysis / computational modeling of cardiac magnetic resonance elastography and through computational biomechanics modeling of the heart through disease progression in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Postdoctoral position in CFD and machine learning

Offered by Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology

Two full-time postdoctoral positions are available in Professor Heye Zhang's group. He currently works in Institute of Advanced Computing and Digital Engineering at Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), Shenzhen China. His research interests are medical image computing and computational modeling. One on-going project is to combine CFD and machine learning together for cardiovascular disease diagnosis and treatment. We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. graduate who is interested in this interdisciplinary field. We offer a two-year contract with 250,000 RMB (around 36K USD) annual pay, plus plentiful housing benefits provided by Shenzhen government, which is up to 320,000RMB (around 48K USD) per year. We will offer faculty positions to postdocs if their performance is satisfied after first two year.
