Belvin Thomas graduated with a Bachelor of Technology (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India in 2006. Thereafter, he worked as a Senior Software Engineer (IBS Software Services, Trivandrum, India) for three years and as a Lecturer (Mangalam College of Engineering, Ettumanoor, India) for one year.
He completed his Masters in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation & Signal Processing) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee) in 2013, and then joined the ABI Cardiac Electrophysiology group in December of the same year.

An image based computer model of persistent atrial fibrillation
The objective of Belvin's research is to develop representative image based models of 3D atrial anatomy that can be used to simulate electrical activation at the whole-atrium level. It is argued that such models provide a better platform for understanding the role played by cellular and structural remodeling in the development of persistent and permanent AF. This project calls for the integration of engineering and mathematical principles with the understanding of cardiac electrophysiology and related biophysics.
