Hari obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the Regional Engineering College (now the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli), Trichy, India. He then attained his Masters at Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) in Flint, Michigan.

Hari started working on lung Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, lung biomechanics modelling during his PhD at the University of Iowa. His doctoral research focused on the study of airflow and particle transport in models of lung acini using idealised and CT-based 3D models. During this work he investigated fundamental particle (aerosol-like) dispersion mechanisms, and developed finite element 2D and 3D finite deformation codes.

Hari joined the ABI in October 2011 as a Research Fellow in the Lungs and Respiratory System research group led by  Professor Merryn Tawhai.

Hari's research at the ABI focuses on developing lung mechanics models with applications to nasal high flow, and his general research interests are in:
