A wearable exoskeleton for upper arm rehabilitation in stroke

The aim of this research is to develop a wearable exoskeleton capable of assisting a stroke patient to perform upper arm reaching and grasping tasks. The project will achieve three objectives:

  1. Implement an EMG-driven musculoskeletal model of the upper arm to predict movement intention
  2. Design and manufacture an upper arm exoskeleton to provide support for upper arm abduction and flexion
  3. Test the efficacy of the device on stroke patients
