Stephen has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) specialising in Engineering Science from the University of Auckland. His focus in his undergraduate degree was on continuum mechanics.

Modeling rumen structure and motility
The aim of this research is to develop a three dimensional computational model that accurately captures the internal and external anatomy of both the rumen and reticulum. This model will then be used to describe motility and mixing which will be combined with existing knowledge of rumen function, nutrient utilisation and microbial chemistry, to produce a fully process driven model of rumen digestion.
