Life at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute
The Auckland Bioengineering Institute hosts more than 60 graduate students enrolled in doctoral or masters research.
Each student has an individual research programme, supervised by a main supervisor and at least one other co-supervisor, often from a complementary field of expertise. Research programmes are overseen by an advisory committee. All students are members of at least one research group and have regular meetings with their supervisers and colleagues to discuss progress.
During their study, students will usually have the opportunity to attend international conferences. Doctoral students are expected to publish original research papers on their research.
For students in the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, the routine includes attendance at the weekly research seminar series, an informal Friday morning breakfast forum, a regular Friday afternoon social meeting to unwind.
The graduate student body organises a variety of sporting activities such as touch rugby, badminton, basketball and indoor football.
