Laura Bear received a Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering (Hons) from The University of Auckland in 2009, and in 2010 began a PhD degree at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute.
Her research project consists of computing body surface potentials from potential distributions on the heart surface (the forward problem) and reconstructing cardiac electrophysiology from remote body surface measurements (the inverse problem). The solution to this inverse problem has clinical relevance since it permits the interpretation of the underlying cardiac events using non-invasive techniques.
