Xiani Yan received a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering (Hons) from The University of Auckland in 2009, and in 2010 began a PhD at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute.
Xiani is investigating the geometry and fibre organisation of the human female pelvic floor muscles, so as to improve the accuracy of childbirth mechanical simulations.
