Profile

Xiao graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering with first class honours in 2006. He started his doctoral research into vocal tract modelling in the following year.

His work involves building computational models to study speech productions in relation to human physiology. The current goal is to investigate the underlying physical causes to the difference of sound quality between fricative sounds /s/ and /sh/.

Xiao's research interests cover computational graphics, parallel computing, finite element method in computational fluid dynamics and computational aeroacoustics.
